BARBARA L. POLLARD
Victoria – Barbara Lehmann Pollard passed away on December 29, 2017, three days short of her 100th birthday. She was born on January 1, 1918 in Eagle Pass, Texas, to the late Sheriff Herman Lehmann and Marina Rodriguez Lehmann.
Barbara was a homemaker and a longtime member of The Cathedral of Our Lady of Victory and the Altar Society. As a devout Catholic, her faith was a source of strength, and she depended on that through the rough times in her life. At age 39, Mrs. Pollard took on the role of father when her husband, Charles C. Pollard was killed in a tragic accident.
She took great pride in her children and made their home a favorite place for her children’s friends to visit.
She was proud of her Spanish and German heritage and took great command of the Spanish language, and enjoyed every opportunity to use it. She cherished beautiful memories of her childhood and was proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who called her Honey, which brought her great joy.
Barbara took great pride in the many kinds of flowers that she nurtured in her yard. She kept an impeccable home. She was proud of her appearance and worked hard to always look nice. She used to say that not even the dog saw her without her lipstick.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers Arthur, Frank and Alfred Lehmann, sister Molly Paine and son Charles H. Pollard.
She is survived by her sister Nancy Lehmann of Eagle Pass, TX; son Ronny of Victoria; daughters Barbara (Geep) Ellington of San Saba, Texas and Theresa (Tommy) Pullin of Victoria.
She will be missed as a fun “Honey” by her 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Victory Educational Fund or O L V Library.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons Derek Mathis, Michael Wright, Keith Farris, Lance Ellington, Christopher and Michael Pullin.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 11:00 – 12:00 pm with a Funeral Mass at 12:00 pm at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Victory. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
