Victoria—Norvel Wilson, 87 went to be with the Lord, Saturday, January 6, 2018 in Victoria, Norvel was born on February 7, 1930 in Seadrift to the late William Wesley Wilson and Nancy Liggon Wilson.
Norvel is survived by his sister Mary Wilson Neill of Seadrift. He is also survived by his daughters; Janet Wilson, Carolyn Moran and son-in-law Kenneth Moran; granddaughter Erin, great-grandson, Lachlan; as well as many, many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Cloie; four brothers, Luther, Floyd, Carl, James and three sisters, Josephine, Bessie and Luthera.
Norvel served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal.
Norvel loved to fish, hunt, garden and spending time with family and friends. He was a very loving, giving, caring soul who faithfully served the Lord throughout his life. He loved to sing, especially the old gospel hymns that he sang in a beautiful baritone voice. He has now joined the angel choir in heaven singing with his beautiful wife Cloie. Norvel’s last wish was that his passing be a joyful happy celebration of his life.
Visitation services will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 5- 7 pm at Grace Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at First Assembly of God Church at 10 am with Pastor George and Pastor Tim Smith officiating. Burial will follow at 12 noon at Seadrift Cemetery in Seadrift.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Men’s Ministries of First Assembly of God or Hospice of South Texas.
