Theo Vernette McMullen (Willms)
Victoria – Theo Vernette Willms McMullen passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at the age of 93. She was born December 29, 1924 in Victoria to the late Theodore and Alfreda Fetters Willemin.
Her childhood was spent in Coletoville on the family farm where she was daddy’s little girl.
After World War II, she married Roland Willms on October 18, 1946. They moved to Ander where they raised their family. Vernette was a very loving and caring wife, mother, sister and friend. She thoroughly enjoyed helping people. She was always very kind, fair and generous. She loved her family, church and was a supporter of the Ander-Weser Volunteer Fire Department.
Vernette worked as Perry’s in Cuero where she never met a stranger. She enjoyed visiting with people and being able to help them particularly with their sewing needs. She also enjoyed quilting with the ladies at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Typical weekends for her and Roland were spent playing dominoes on Friday and dancing Saturday. They never missed an opportunity to enjoy time with family and friends while traveling. They were married 43 years.
After Roland passed away, Vernette later married Lester McMullen on April 4, 1992. Together they also traveled on many trips. After his passing, she continued to enjoy bus trips with Annie and Miriam to Louisiana and Mississippi.
She is survived by her four sons, Ron (Debbie) of Victoria, Gaylon (Sue) of Ander, Randy (Grace) of Weesatche, and Kevin (Ivy) of Schroeder; step daughter-in-law Betty (PL) Gill of Victoria; grandchildren, Robin (Marcus) Leatherwood, Brian Willms, Christie Willms, Wade Willms, Sara (John) Conrad, Hope Willms; step grandchildren, Greg Gill and Monica Gill; great grandchildren, Dakota and Keegan Leatherwood, Blake and McKenzie Willms, and Shanell Gorman; step great grandchildren, Walter Gill, Gilliann and Elena Churchill.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and two brothers, Melvin and Charles “Ray” Willemin.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 5th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Grace Funeral Home – Goliad. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 6th at 10:00 am at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Ander with burial to follow at Glendale Lutheran Cemetery in Goliad.
Pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren.
