Victoria—Charles L. Nichols, 85, passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, Friday, April 27, 2018.
Family and friends will gather for visitation, Wednesday, May 2nd, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Grace Funeral Home, 2401 Houston Highway in Victoria. Honoring Charles’ wishes he will be cremated and buried at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, with full military honors rendered by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.
Charles was born April 22, 1933 in Sycamore, Illinois to the late Clarence and Florence Shott Nichols. Charles served his country honorably for over 20 years in the US Air Force. He retired in 1972 having achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. With his years of service Charles worked as an Instrument Technician. Charles married the love of his life, Beverly Maynard in 1952. Charles enjoyed his volunteer time at the National Museum of the Pacific War, along with building model trains and planes, collecting depression glass and woodworking. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Florence Nichols.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 65 years, Beverly J. Nichols; children, Debbie Johnson and husband Donny, Kathy Lee and husband William, Doreen Nichols, William Nichols and wife Judith, and George Nichols; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; along with numerous other loving family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crown Hospice or Courtyard Rehabilitation & Healthcare.
