Ray Jones Sr.
Ray Charles Jones SR. 91 of Sarco Community Died Tuesday May 8 2018. He was born November 2nd 1926 in Thompsonville TX. The loving son of Hellen Cockrell Young.
He served in the Corp of Engineers during and after World War 2 helping to rebuild the communities in Japan from 1944 to 1947. After his time in the service he ventured into the petroleum industry where he learned to weld at Humble Oil Company and eventually became a pipeline welder for H & K construction for 40 years. He retired from Pumpco Inc. working as a pipeline foreman. After retirement he enjoyed gardening and ranching at the farm in Sarco.
He is preceded in death by his Mother Hellen Cockrell Young, first wife Margie Perkins Jones, eldest son Ray Charles Jones JR and sister Opal Mc Grande.
He is survived by loving wife Mary Beard Jones of Sarco, son Larry (Debbie) Jones of Sarco, son Dickie (Rachel) Jones of Cleburne, daughter Deborah (William) Kohler of Aransas Pass. Step children Ricky (Milly) Hansen of Chula Vista Ca., Wayne (Nancy) Hanson Buchanan Dam, Dan (Willie) Peek Ingleside. Sisters, Christine Simpson, Rhonda Walden and Brothers, Arvie Young, William Young, Andrew Young. Granddaughters Jenny Sanchez, Natalie Jones, Grandsons, Kevin Jones, Eric Jones, Jeffrey Jones, Justin Young, Andrew Fromme, Zachery Young David Jones Step Grandchildren, Jessica Velasquez, Ashlyn Bottcher Linda Hansen, Westin Hansen, Heath Hansen, Eric Hansen, Stewart Hansen, Callen Hansen and 18 Great grandchildren.
Ray was a loving family man and father that always welcomed everyone with a smile and handshake.
Viewing will be Thursday May 10th between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00 PM at Grace Funeral Home in Goliad TX. Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Goliad TX at 3:00 PM May 11th followed by grave side services at the Sarco community cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Jones, Eric Jones, Jeffrey Jones, David Jones, Justin Young, Andrew Fromme, Zachery Young, Honorary Pallbearers David Roberts, Jimmy Roberts, Allen Roberts, Westin Hansen, Dan Peek and Phillip Bottcher.
