FRANKLIN J. SEDLAR
Victoria – Franklin J. Sedlar went to be with the Lord May 26, 2018 at the age of 80. He was born September 16, 1937 to the late Frank J. and Julia Sedlar.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Leona Brosch Sedlar; daughters Donna (David R.) Maxey and Jackie (Hank) Stall; sisters Rosalie Kocian, Patricia Smirak, and Gladys (Bobby) Jiral; brothers Charles (Julie) Sedlar, Theodore (Elenor) Sedlar and Julius (Rosemary) Sedlar; 5 grandchildren Brittany (Kris) Morrison, Sarah Maxey (Kyle Speer), Colby (Sarah) Sturm, David J. “D.J.” Maxey and Jennifer Sturm (Noah Suggs); seven great grandchildren Connor, Zoe Grace, and Oliver Morrison, Colby Jr., Vivian, Elon and Vera Sturm; four step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.
Franklin was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where he was a Eucharist Minister, a member of Holy Name Society and was active in KC Council #1329.
He married the love of his life Leona Emma Brosch at 8:00 am on October 25, 1958 in Hallettsville, Texas. He lived a very passionate life which included his love of basketball, baseball and his horses, including many trail rides. They would travel to Moulton Bobkatz games and stayed current with the world famous San Antonio Spurs.
He was very well known for his barbequing for KC’s, church festivals or making his famous brisket or ribs for his grandchildren. If you knew Franklin, you knew he was going to greet you with a handshake. He was the most giving person and would do anything for anybody. He never complained and never said “No”.
Franklin and Leona were members of the Polka Dance Club. He always enjoyed listening to Polka music and dancing even with his great grandchildren.
He made many friends in his sales career which started with Valley Gold Creamery and retired from Keebler Cookie Company. He then spent some of his retirement working for Prasek’s Distributing.
Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm.
A Divine Mercy Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am and a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Albert Yankey officiating. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the KC Hall.
Pallbearers will be Colby Sturm, David J. Maxey, Kris Morrison, Todd Brosch, Kenneth Brosch, Jason Mares and Daniel Respondek. Honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters, Kyle Speer, Noah Suggs, great grandchildren, KC Members, Holy Name Society, Leo Repka and Paul Vesely.
