James Alton Long entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 3, 2018 at the age of 81, leaving behind his wife of 60 years, Darlene Rawls Long. He was born January 2, 1937 to the late Cecil Rhodes and Lily Juanita Long in Big Spring, Texas. Al worked at DuPont for 32 years.
In addition to his wife Darlene of 60 years, he is survived by his children, Tammy (Kevin) Janak; and Keith (Cheri) Long; his brothers, Charles Long and Terry Long; and his sister, Linda (Jimmy) Shaw. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jamey (Farah) Janak, Jeremy Janak, Travis Long, and Eric Long; and great granddaughters, Nora, Finley, Kendall, and Avery Janak.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger Long; and sister, Dorothy Jean Allgood.
Serving as pallbearers are Jamey Janak, Jeremy Janak, Travis Long, Eric Long, Frank Espinoza, and Chris Willborn.
A visitation will be held for family and friends on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Grace Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Grace Memorial Chapel, 8819 US Hwy 87 North, Victoria, TX beginning at 10:00am with Rev. Les Coles, officiating. Entombment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
