Maria was born March 13, 1935 in Wharton, Texas to the late Hilario Vega and Amalia Jordan Vega. Maria loved to dance the night away and enjoyed spending time with her family. She worked for many years as a restaurant manager and also worked helping others with housekeeping. Maria was a loving, kind, and generous soul. She taught her children to love and respect others and that hard work was the way to survive and live. Maria loved her children more than life itself and nothing could compare. Maria married the father of her children, Gilbert Alvarado in 1950, he preceded her in death in 1996. Maria married her second husband, Eusebio Mendoza in December of 1975. Together they had many happy years together, Eusebio preceded her in 2010. Maria was also preceded in death by her parents, 3 children who died at birth; her daughters, Susie Jimenez and Brenda Cespedes; and siblings, Narciso Vega, Maria Hernandez, Lupe Vega, Ramona Martinez, and Isidoro Vega.
Maria leaves us to cherish her memory and continue her legacy of giving to others, children, Valentino Alvarado and companion, Mary Helen, Belen Ayala, Gilbert Alvarado and companion Adelia Garza, Celestino Alvarado, Mary Ann Gutierrez and husband, Joe; son-in-law, Carlos Cespedes; siblings, Rosa Mocebias and husband, George, Janie Gonzales and husband, Ernest and Hilario Vega and wife, Lola; 29 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous other loving family members and friends.
