Obituary for Charles Yeoman

Charles  Yeoman
Charles Gerald Yeoman, lovingly known as “Chuck”, 82, passed away, Friday, September 21, 2018. Chuck’s family and friends will gather for visitation and service, Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM with a service at 6:00PM at Grace Funeral Home, 2401 Houston Hwy. in Victoria. Chuck will be laid to rest with his wife, Jerry, at 9:00AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Thursday, September 27, 2018, where the United States Army Honor Guard will render military honors for Chuck’s many years of service to his country.

Charles was born May 4, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Thomas and Ethel Keller Yeoman. After high school, Chuck attended Ferman University, and graduated with his Bachelor’s of Arts in Economics. Chuck married the love of his life, Ruth Geraldine Williams, in April of 1958. Chuck served his country in the United States Army and then in Civil Service. In his many years of service, Chuck and Jerry lived in many different places around the world, including, South Carolina, Maryland, San Antonio, Kentucky, Virginia, Korea and Germany. They committed their lives to service to others and in doing so they adopted their four children. Upon retiring, Chuck and Jerry made their home in Victoria, where they built their dream home out at Coleto Creek. One of his other venture’s was opening his own auto paint and body shop, “Chuck’s”. He gained many friends and acquaintances from his time with the shop. They enjoyed traveling and drove across country several times, one of which was their 50th Anniversary. Together, Chuck and Jerry were very involved with Al Anon, playing interictal roles in meetings over the years. Chuck was well known for his mac and cheese at New Years Eve. In later years, Chuck was often seen walking and exercising at the Citizens Healthplex. Jerry preceded Chuck in death in 2011, since then he has religiously visited the cemetery on her birthday, valentine’s day and their anniversary. Chuck was also preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ethel, stepmother, Holly Yeoman, daughter, Ruth Keller Yeoman DeLaye; sisters, Barbara Dempster and Charlotte Canute; and brother, Tommy Yeoman.

Chuck is survived by his sons, Mark A. Yeoman and wife, Gayle, and Michael C. Yeoman; daughter, Anne Marie Yeoman Green; 5 grandchildren, Jaime Amezquita and husband Jason, Zachary Yeoman, Brooks McIver, Tiffany Ivie and Isabelle Rayne Jones; 2 great-grandchildren, Statham Covington, Henry Amezquita, ; along with numerous other loving family members and friends. Chuck was known for being the backbone for many people and stood along side those in need, he will be truly missed.

Memorial donations in Chuck’s memory are requested to be sent to Al Anon.
